Lake Erie Fishing Charters

Lake Erie is the fourth largest lake of the five Great Lakes and eleventh largest fresh water lake in the world. It is the southernmost, shallowest and smallest lake by volume of the Great Lakes. However, due to the amazing ecosystem, Lake Erie has more consumable fish than all other Great Lakes combined. Lake Erie fishing, especially for jumbo perch and walleye, is some of the most prized angling in the U.S. and the best fishing in Ohio. In order to enjoy the best fishing that Lake Erie has to offer it is essential to hire an experienced Lake Erie fishing charter captain.

At JOB Fishing Charters, located in the Western Basin of Lake Erie, we know that everyone has different expectations and desires, and we will design a charter to meet your needs and ensure a safe trip. Whether you are a skilled angler and want to polish your skills in a tournament boat or a first-time angler wanting to simply enjoy the lake and fill the freezer on a larger boat (with flushing head), we will tailor the trip to your needs to provide a memorable and educational angling experience. We also cater to corporate events along with bachelor/bachelorette parties. If you are staying on one of the islands we can (for a small fee) pick you up at the dock.

We fish from ice-off to ice-on all year long seven days a week (weather permitting). We make a great effort to keep clean, organized and safe boats sporting some of the latest electronics and gear available today. Be sure to navigate through the different website pages to help you in your charter booking decisions.

Captain Jason O’Brien

Captain Jason O’Brien was born in Toronto and grew up fly-in fishing in northern Canada. Lake of the Woods holds a special place in his memories as one of his all-time favorite fresh water fishing spots.  He moved to Los Angeles as a youth to play semi-professional hockey.  While hockey took up a significant amount of time, it did not stop him from spending time on the beach of the Sea of Cortez studying marine biology and ecology along with fishing with his parents off the coast of southern California.  Shortly after graduating college in Colorado, he moved to Florida for 14 years where he experienced a different kind of fishing out of Cape Canaveral and into the Bahamas.  Today, he is married with three children.  He owns a home in Port Clinton, Ohio on the shores of the Western Basin of Lake Erie, and he fishes Lake Erie’s hot spots from ice-off through ice-on.

Captain Jason O’Brien also competes in several different tournament circuits: Lake Erie Walleye Trail (LEWT) Tournament Series, Cabela’s Master Walleye Circuit (MWC) Tournaments, Bass Pro Shop / Cabela’s National Walleye Tour (NWT).

His professional career has provided him numerous opportunities to attend national and international events, conferences, and trade shows including many years representing different companies at the international trade shows in Orlando, Las Vegas and Atlanta.  Currently, he conducts speaking seminars at local and regional events to promote walleye fishing (CIC Boat Show, Avon Cabela’s, Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati Boat & Fishing Expos).

He has a channel on YouTube called JOB Fishing and, in the first 2 years, he has surpassed all reasonable expectations for a channel launch by achieving 3,905 organic subscribers, over 586,300 views, and over 197,400 watched hours on just the first 30 films.  His passion for sharing his experiences and knowledge in the world of fishing is evident in his movies.

Probably my best day on Lake Erie fishing for spring post spawn walleye!! I decided to ditch video editing to take advantage of a rare, beautiful Lake Erie spring fishing day. I try to set up a western basin jig bite on the reef structure. After watching giant walleye swim right up to my boat while jigging, I decide to setup my Off Shore Planer Boards and troll some high crankbaits...4 Fish Ohio's later in a single man limit in under 2 hours seals the day as one of my PB solo fishing trips. Thankfully, I have video to prove it!!
