Frequently asked questions.
Who will captain JOB Fishing Charters?
I’m a low volume charter service and I only accept (1) charter per day unless we are in a rescheduling situation due to weather cancellations. I will always be the captain of your charter regardless of the charter or boat you select.
Can changes be made after a charter has been booked?
Yes. If you find yourself in a situation where you have to change the date or time of the charter simply give me a call and we will move you to a new available date. You can also change the number of anglers if needed. The only thing I ask is you give me at least 7 days before your originally scheduled charter date to make any changes to your charter.
How long is a standard trip?
A standard trip is 6 hours or to limit. Typically, we depart between 5:30 and 7:30 am or 12:00 and 2:30 pm depending on the month.
If we don’t catch any fish is the trip the same price?
If by rare chance this happens, yes, the trip is still the same price; but, we don’t charge extra for brining your bad mojo on the boat.
What if we have bad weather the day we are suppose to fish?
Usually we can get an accurate weather report 3 days in advance. We typically are able fish up to 15 – 20 knot winds, but once winds hit a sustained 20 knots or when a small-craft warning is issued, we call it. That said, sometimes if it’s too windy to fish offshore, we may be able to fish inshore or implement a different style of fishing that is easier in rough sea conditions. If there are scattered thunderstorms in the forecast or on the radar, we can do our best to avoid them. Bad weather cancellations are at the captain’s discretion. Your safety is our number one priority. If a trip is cancelled due to weather, an alternate date will be provided or your deposit refunded.
Where is the boat docked?
Our large Weldcraft 300 Cuddy King is slipped at Catawba Landing Marina, 2021 NE Catawba Rd., Port Clinton, OH 43452 Dock #223.
Our Lund 219 ProV GL Tournament Boat is garaged year-round and launched at predetermined boat ramps depending on the weather and the bite.
What are the current fish limits?
Currently in Ohio, you can keep 6 walleye per angler per day with minimum of 15” length and 30 perch per angler per day (check with ODNR as this may change).
When is the best time to catch walleye and perch?
We catch both all year. See the Seasonal Guide page to help you make a decision. Are you looking for trophy fish or simply looking to fill the freezer? Are you ok with colder weather or is fair-weather fishing more what you are looking for? These are things to keep in mind when booking your charter.
Should we tip our captain?
Short answer…heck yes. There is a lot planning and working before and after the actual charter to ensure that you have both a safe and memorable experience on Lake Erie. Tips are not required, but if you enjoyed your experience and want to provide a gratuity, we greatly appreciate them.
How many passengers on a charter?
We can accomodate 1-6 passengers on the Weldcraft 300 Cuddy King OS and 1-2 passengers on the Lund 219 ProV GL Tournament boat.
Is there drinking adult beverages on the boat?
Yes, beer and wine is allowed (no glass bottles). NO hard liquor is allowed. Again, your safety is our number one priority.
Is there an age limit for children?
We would recommend not bringing any children under 5 years old as safety is a concern. Any children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Type 1 life jackets for both adults and children are on board at all times.
Are fishing licenses required?
All persons 16 and over are required to have a fishing license. These can be purchased online (see below links) or stop at any tackle store or WalMart.
